About Palm Springs Art Museum
Palm Springs Art Museum first came into existence in 1938, but didn’t find its permanent location until 1958. Over the decades it has flourished and become a “cultural center of the desert.”
The museum is home to compelling and inspiring collections of art. Palm Springs Art Museum showcases both permanent and rotating exhibitions. The permanent collection features 12,000 objects representing modern and contemporary art, architecture and design, all of which are deeply rooted in history and heritage. The rotating exhibitions vary in content and style, but always feature innovative inspiring pieces of art.
What Else to do at the Museum
Aside from the impressive art exhibits, the museum houses two other attractions worthy of visiting. The Persimmon Bistro & Wine Bar is a unique and refreshing cafe that does not require a museum admission ticket, but is quite an artistic culinary tour all its own. The museum also houses the Annenberg Theater, which features a wide variety of performances, while hosting events, art classes, films, and lectures.
The Palm Springs Museum of Art also has satellite facilities such as the Architecture and Design Center, and the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden. Both are conveniently located near the main museum.

Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion
Once the Santa Fe Savings & Loan Bank, it has now found renewed use as part of the Palm Springs Museum. This addition to the museum has become a hub for exploring creative architecture and design.
A fun part of the attraction is that the Museum Design Store is actually the original vault of the former bank. You’ll have a great time looking over architectural souvenirs while contemplating the vault design.
Hours: Monday-Wednesday: Closed; Thursday: Noon-8pm; Friday-Sunday: 10am-5pm
Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden
Situated on four acres, the garden features sculptures by modern masters, set among a landscaped desert oasis with walking paths winding through the rolling terrain of native plants and waterscapes. Strolling along the pathways of this oasis it’s easy to block out the city noise and busy streets.
The garden is open to visitors year round. Download their map and explore the garden with a self-guided tour.
Admission: Free
The sculpture garden is open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.
Persimmon Bistro & Wine Bar
Feeling a little famished after your tour? The museum also houses the Persimmon Bistro & Wine Bar, which sits on the edge of the museum’s sculpture garden. This unique cafe serves rustic and eclectic cuisines made from the freshest ingredients. The menu relies on fresh vegetables, fish and poultry, using French techniques to create dishes pleasing to the eye and the palette.
Be prepared to wait as the Persimmon is a fresh to order kitchen, but is so worth it.
Hours: Monday--Wednesday: Closed; Thursday: 12pm-6:30pm; Friday--Sunday: 11am-6pm
